Meet the Staff
Randi Salas
Hello! I’m the Office Manager at Vargas, and I love being one of the first people students and families connect with when they come to the office. I enjoy helping things run smoothly and making sure our school feels welcoming for every person who walks through our doors. I was born and raised in Sunnyvale, so it means a lot to be part of our Vargas community.
Outside of the office I love to continue my love of learning! I enjoy learning new languages, hiking and taking lots of nature pictures. I also enjoy teaching, as I get a lot of joy from teaching Bible courses.
Nuemi Armenta
As the School Registrar, I am responsible for maintaining student records and managing daily attendance. I also assist families when students need to take leave, by helping families set up independent study contracts and making the process clear and straightforward. I am always happy to help guide our families through any process, whether it be registration, or relocation.
I truly enjoy being part of a school community and helping families stay connected and informed. When I’m not at work, you’ll often find me baking something sweet or spending time with my three children and our dog, who keeps our household busy and full of energy.

I am the Health Assistant Vargas and my role is to help make sure students feel well and safe during the school day. I support students when they are not feeling well, assist with basic health needs, and help create a caring and supportive environment. I am also responsible for receiving, managing, and administering medications to students as needed. My goal is to help every student feel comfortable, cared for, and ready to learn.

Manuel Ochoa

Rebecca Mathenia- Library
Hi, I'm Rebecca Mathenia. I was born and raised in the Bay Area. I have my dad's attitude and my mom's caring heart. I'm very close with my family. My mom (Mrs. Colleen) is the crossing guard on the corner of Carson and Leota. My husband Andy and I have been married for 12 years. We have two kids, Aiden (16) and Bailey (10) and a doggy, Oliver(2). I love spending time with my family, watching Netflix, music, Starbucks, the color pink and the Backstreet Boys! I believe that kindness, patience and understanding are the most important things in this world. This will be my 9th year at Vargas. I started as a Para Educator and at the end of the 22/23 school I became the LRS/Librarian and I couldn't be happier. I care very much for this school, its students, families and staff. I can't wait to welcome everyone to the library in the coming school year.
